One Baaad Poncho

You'll need:

9 skeins Dale of Norway Sisik ( or approx. 1330 yards of another worsted weight yarn)

Size 11 US needles

Gauge: 12 sts. = 4 "

Flat dimensions, approx. 22" x 56"

This poncho is worked as one long piece, then sewn together as illustrated below.

Hold 2 strands of yarn together throughout.

 

Pattern:

With yarn doubled, cast on 70 stitches

Row 1 (RS): K25 P2, K16, P2, K25

2 (WS): P25, K2, P16, K2, P25

3: K25, P2, C8B, C8F, P2, K25

4: P25, K2, P16, K2, P25

5-8: Repeat rows 1 & 2 twice.

Repeat these 8 rows 24 more times, for a total of 25 cable patterns, ending with row 6 in 25th repeat.

Bind off. 

Sew short end of poncho to the end of one long side, creating a point, as shown below.

With yarn held doubled and with a size K crochet hook, do single crochet around neckline and hem for a finished look and to help prevent curling.

Knitting terms:

C8B = Slip 4 sts. onto a cable needle and hold to back of work.  K4, then K the 4 sts. off cable needle.

C8F = Slip 4 sts. onto a cable needle and hold to front of work.  K4, then K the 4 sts. off cable needle.
